ANALISIS PEMANFAATAN PELAYANAN KESEHATAN BAGI MASYARAKAT MISKIN DI KABUPATEN KUTAI KARTANEGARA

ABSTRACT

Background: One of health program objectives is accessible and even distribution of health service to the community at all levels. Attention is in particular directed to even distribution of health service for poor communities. Poverty has made millions of people unable to pay health cost and have limited access to public service in health. The same condition also happens in district of Kutai Kartanegara.

Objective: The study was intended to find out factors which encouraged access to health service by poor communities.

Method: The study was correlational with cross sectional survey design, using both quantitative and qualitative approaches. Quantitative data were obtained from questionnaire and analyzed using univariable, bivariable and multivariable techniques, whereas qualitative data were obtained from interview with heads of community health center and poor communities. Samples were taken using stratified proportional random sampling technique with as many as 270 people. Data collection used questionnaire and interview guide. Independent variables consisted of: age, sex, education, expenditure, attitude or view about health service, ownership of health insurance, distance to health facilities, transport facilities, availability of health service facilities, area and need/perception of being ill, whereas dependent variable was utilization of health service by poor communities.

Result: The result of quantitative analysis showed that factors of education, attitude/view about health service, transport facilities, and area had significant relationship (p<0>

Conclusion: Factors affecting utilization of health service by poor communities at district of Kutai Kartanegara were education, attitude/view about health service, transport facilities, and area.
